It’s so fun to photograph engagement sessions at locations that are special to the couple, so when Chelsea & Eric suggested we do engagement portraits on a family ranch, I was all in. We drove out to Chelsea’s family’s land on a sunny summer afternoon, and lucked out with the most stunning golden hour light.
Colorful Golden Hour Engagement Portraits on the Bride’s Family Ranch
Chelsea & Eric are such a kind and fun-loving couple and always ready to party. They met through Chelsea’s family, and while they knew each other for years, they dated for a short time before deciding they were ready to tie-the-knot.
They were instantly trusting of me behind the camera and ready to have fun walking around the ranch! When a couple forgets the camera and has fun with each other, the photographs are true to them. Chelsea & Eric did such an incredible job of that and I think their personalities show so much in these photographs!
We spent the first part of their engagement session in a clearing of the ranch with lovely, big oak trees. They wore matching jerseys with their names on the back–the vibrant color was so fun with the dreamy evening light.
Then we drove up into a more open field for some more formal portraits. I loved that they incorporated so much color into their outfits! As the sun went down, they popped a bottle of champagne and toasted to their engagement.
They got married a few months later, at a country club wedding with a killer dance floor. View their gallery to see their autumn wedding, with some super fun flash reception photographs.
