I first met Julie and Joey during their engagement session at The Study, one of Oklahoma City’s charming wine bars that perfectly reflected their eclectic style. Julie and Joey are truly the sweetest pair—quiet and warmhearted, the kind of people everyone instantly loves. Their vision for their Oklahoma City wedding was inspired by two things: the iconic art deco architecture of their historic venue and vibrant jewel-tone florals.
A Timeless Bridal Look and Stunning Jewel-Tone Bouquet
Julie’s bridal look was the picture of timeless elegance with a unique flair. She wore a breathtaking Madi Lane Bridal gown with a delicate lace train and off-the-shoulder sleeves. But one of the most unique touches of her bridal look had to be her shoes—one-of-a-kind, sparkly heels with a modern acrylic heel from She Is Cheval. Julie had fallen in love with these heels but felt hesitant about buying them for herself. However, after hearing her admiration for the shoes, her thoughtful boss gifted them to her as a wedding present. They added a unique contemporary twist to her classic bridal look, perfectly reflecting Julie’s style.
To complete her ensemble, Julie held a showstopping bouquet crafted by Leah of Ribbon & Blooms Floristry. Julie’s bouquet was everything she’d imagined: a vibrant arrangement of jewel tones featuring magenta roses, soft ranunculus, and purple anemones, among other lush blooms. Furthermore, Leah tied the bouquet with a velvet magenta ribbon, which added a rich, romantic flair. This bouquet was not just a piece of floral design; it was a work of art!
A Classic Groom Look with Unique Accessories
Joey and his groomsmen dressed in classic black tuxedos that set an elegant, sophisticated tone. Balanced against his classic suit, Joey chose a green velvet bow tie that perfectly complemented the vibrant jewel-tone theme of the day. As a heartfelt wedding gift, Julie gave Joey a pair of gold and pearl cufflinks, each engraved with their initials. In addition, they tied into Julie’s own pearl jewelry, creating a subtle yet meaningful connection between their outfits.
Julie’s bridesmaids echoed the vibrant jewel tones of the floral arrangements and decor, wearing stunning dresses from Azazie in a curated range of colors. This beautiful color palette complemented the rich tones in Julie’s bouquet and added a lively splash of color throughout the day.
An Emotional First Look Before the Ceremony
Julie and Joey had a first look before the ceremony, a special private moment amidst the excitement of their wedding day. We chose the Hall of Mirrors as the setting, standing beside the grand windows that frame views of downtown OKC. It was a quiet, heartfelt pause during a busy day, giving them the chance to soak up each other’s presence before exchanging vows. First looks are a lovely opportunity to take a pause and enjoy a quiet moment together before the ceremony!
An Intimate Oklahoma City Wedding Ceremony Surrounded by Vibrant Florals
For their ceremony, Leah created a breathtaking floral arch in rich jewel tones. This enchanting floral structure served as the backdrop for Julie and Joey’s vows. The combination of bold blooms and natural textures against the Hall of Mirrors’ art deco charm created a timeless scene.
The Hall of Mirrors is truly one of the most striking wedding venues in Oklahoma City. In addition to its expansive windows that flood the room with natural light, this historic space has intricate teal and gold moldings that echo the art deco aesthetic Julie and Joey were inspired by. These architectural details paired perfectly with the jewel-tone color scheme of the florals, attire, and decor.
Julie and Joey’s ceremony was deeply family-centered, bringing an emotional and personal touch to their wedding. Julie’s eldest brother had the honor of officiating, while her other three brothers gave her away at the end of the aisle. The ceremony itself was intimate and heartfelt–there wasn’t a dry eye in the room!
After the ceremony, we took Julie and Joey’s portraits on the iconic front steps of the Civic Center Music Hall. Blessed with perfect October weather and a breathtaking Oklahoma sunset, the light made their portraits soft and romantic.
A Romantic Wedding Reception with Vintage Details
The reception space in the Hall of Mirrors was a vintage-inspired wonderland. Tables were thoughtfully decorated with vintage books and beautiful, grandmillennial-style teacups, each one filled with lush jewel-tone floral arrangements. One of the standout pieces was the vintage telephone Julie antiqued, which served as a charming focal point for their audio guestbook table.
A sweetheart table was set up against the floor-to-ceiling windows offering a nighttime view of downtown Oklahoma City. In order to make this space even more special, the floral arch from the ceremony was repurposed to frame the table. With candles placed around Julie’s bouquet as the centerpiece, it was the perfect romantic tablescape.
Editorial Direct Flash Portraits in an Art Deco Box Office
As the night continued, we captured some fun flash portraits of Julie and Joey in front of the Civic Center’s iconic art deco box office. The intricate gold metalwork of the box office provided a nostalgic, timeless backdrop. These portraits are some of my absolute favorites of the night!
Julie and Joey celebrated the rest of the night on the dance floor, surrounded by their friends and family. The dance floor was packed all evening, with Julie’s brothers leading the way. As the night came to a close, guests gathered together in a circle, holding hands and cheering for the happy couple—a perfect ending to their lovely celebration.
Julie and Joey’s Oklahoma City wedding was truly such an incredible celebration. Surrounded by the people who mean most to them, Julie and Joey created a wedding that was not only visually stunning but filled with personal touches. From the vibrant jewel tones to the art deco details, every element of their day was a reflection of their style!
