Mountaintop Wedding Portraits in Vail, Colorado

This summer, I had the absolute pleasure of meeting newlyweds Brittney & Baker to take their wedding portraits in Vail, Colorado. The couple tied the knot in May, and coincidentally their wedding was in my hometown of Denton, Texas! They loved their stunning Texas wedding, they also wanted to commemorate their marriage with some portraits in the mountains of Vail, where they love to spend time with Baker’s family.

Summer Newlywed Portraits on Vail Mountain

For their June newlywed session, we planned to head to the top of Vail Mountain on the scenic gondola. The wedding deck at the summit offered the most incredible panoramic views, making it an ideal setting for their mountain-top wedding portraits. We were fortunate to have perfect weather, with a gentle breeze and a light cloud cover that added a soft, diffused light to the vibrant summer landscape. Summer is my favorite season for photos because all the colors are so bright and vibrant!

Vail, with its charming alpine architecture and endless scenic vistas, provided the perfect backdrop for Brittney and Baker’s portraits. As a wedding photographer in Colorado, I’m always excited to explore new locations, and this was my first time photographing in Vail. The ski village’s unique blend of natural beauty and architectural charm offered so many beautiful opportunities for portraits.

The gondola ride up the mountain gave us a chance to chat, and I quickly realized that Brittney and Baker are the real deal—their love and respect for one another is so obvious, and they make an incredible pair.

A Timeless Bridal Look: A High-Neck, Open-Back Wedding Gown

Brittney and Baker met on a dating app, and after dating for just over a year, they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Just before their engagement, Brittney found a wedding dress online that caught her eye. On a whim, she decided to try it on, and it turned out to be a perfect fit—both literally and figuratively. The dress, with its high-neck and low-back silhouette, was a stunning choice, accented by delicate lace that added texture and elegance. Remarkably, it was the last one available, as it had been discontinued. This felt like such a serendipitous moment, and she decided to buy it just before Baker proposed!

With the mountain mostly to ourselves, Brittney and Baker were free to be themselves, allowing me to capture their candid interactions and genuine affection. They were such a joy to work with—easy-going, kind, and clearly head over heels for each other. It was a privilege to document these moments as they unfolded naturally, with the vibrant Colorado mountains as their backdrop.

Newlywed Portraits: Creating Lasting Memories Beyond the Wedding Day

Newlywed portrait sessions like this one are a fantastic idea for couples who want to create even more memories after their wedding day. On the wedding day itself, you often only have a brief window for portraits, so dedicating an entire session at a later date allows for more creativity, movement, and, most importantly, time to enjoy the process. Additionally, these sessions offer the chance to take wedding portraits in a location that holds special significance, beyond the wedding venue itself.

Brittney and Baker’s choice to have portraits in both Texas and the Colorado mountains truly gave them the best of both worlds. Now, they have a stunning collection of images in their wedding attire, set against the backdrop of both the place where they said their vows and the scenery of Colorado.

Adding a newlywed portrait session to your wedding celebration is a beautiful way to create even more meaningful memories and capture your love in a unique and personal way. Interested in booking newlywed portraits in Colorado after your wedding date? Contact me here to set up your session!
