Elena & Giovanni’s backyard wedding was one of the most beautiful and pure celebrations of love I’ve ever seen, and I’m so thankful I was able to be a part of it! Their gorgeous event was held in their friends’ (and my neighbors’) lovely yard back in May.
I met Elena & Giovanni through my neighbors–the first time we met in person was at their engagement session! They have been together for nine years, and met while attending school in Italy. They moved to Denton to go to graduate school at UNT, and both just finished up their degrees!
The weather was fantastic–with the sun shining and the big trees blocking us from the heat. All afternoon Elena & Giovanni’s sweet friends helped set up the yard, cook, and get them ready for their big day.
Both of their families are originally from Italy, and Giovanni’s family flew all the way to America for the wedding! It was so interesting to be a part of a multi-cultural wedding. I learned so much about Italian customs! And the FOOD. Oh my word. Their sweet family and friends made the most amazing traditional Italian food, and I’m still not over it.
Overall, so much thought and love was put into this wedding. Everyone was so excited for the happy couple, and it showed through all the intention they put into loving Elena & Giovanni.
Can y’all believe my neighbor Susan did all the florals herself?! She did so awesome!
Family and friends in the kitchen making some BOMB Italian food.
Giovanni’s mom giving her daughter-in-law the biggest hug just after the ceremony. This photo makes me cry :,)
During their first dance… Tell me they don’t look like freaking models in this! They belong on a magazine cover!
All throughout the reception, somebody would start chanting “Bacho!” which means ‘kiss’ in Italian, and everyone would join in and then they would kiss and it was precious.
